Recientes e Importantes logros de Delaval
Everyone related to Argentinean milk production was in Santa Fe, Argentina when Bosio celebrated its 100th anniversary on November 4, 2004. The President of Bosio, Mr Dante Bosio, received recognition both from the city of El Trébol and from the Argentine President Néstor Kirchner in a letter of recognition for his “dedication in favour of the technological development of the Argentinean dairy sector.” During the festivities several lectures were held such as “Milk production perspectives in Argentina and the World”, “The future of the dairy farm from the gate inwards” and “Argentinean financial perspectives for 2005”.
DeLaval and Bosio formed an alliance four years ago in 2001. Bosio is a strong brand for the South American market and they carry both Capital Goods and After Market products in their range.
In January 2003 a new milk quality standard was introduced by the Russian authorities. This created a great demand for cooling tanks, milking equipment and hygiene products. The Russian company Unimilk owns 12 dairies and a number of industrial farms which makes it possible for them to cover the whole value chain. Three percent of all industrial milk in Russia is processed by Unimilk making them the country’s second largest processor, using only milk form their own farms. In 2004 they decided to increase their supply of raw milk and subsequently invested in DeLaval equipment for their dairies as well as for their industrial farms. This far they have ordered 110 cooling tanks, parlours, mixer wagon and feed stations at a value of €2M.
At the most important exhibition for Dairy Farmers in the UK – The Dairy Event – the Prince Phillip Award competition is held. It commemorates the prince’s Presidency of The Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers from 1973-1975. The prize goes to the most practical, relevant and best presented technical demonstration at the annual Dairy Farming Event. This year a further category was added known as “The Certificate of Merit”. This category was won by DeLaval for the DeLaval cell counter DCC.
DeLaval also won a gold medal for best product at the International Agricultural Fair POLAGRA-FARM 2004 with the DeLaval calf feeder CF150. The fair, held for the first time since Poland’s accession to the EU, proved to be one of the biggest events of its kind in Europe and definitely the biggest in Eastern Europe. More than 80 000 visitors, many from the neighbouring countries, visited the stands, admired the exhibited animals and participated in seminars.
Apart from the prize winning CF150 DeLaval also presented the DeLaval swinging cow brush and a variety of other farm supply products.

The automatic calf feeder DeLaval CF150 is a huge success in Australia. This calf rearing solution has already sold more than 84 units in a country that never traditionally marketed calf feeders. The high level of success is mainly due to the close the co-operation between DeLaval entities and the local dealer organisation. The DeLaval team had a product well suited to grassland farming, an extensive and well prepared roll out and competitive pricing. The dealers on their part arranged more than 35 open days, seminars and shows featuring the calf feeder CF150. To create attention and show off the calf feeder one dealer built a demo trailer. With the feeder on the trailer he toured the country demonstrating it. Successful launches of CF150 have also been completed in Sweden, Norway and Finland. Recently the product was presented in Benelux and France where orders came in the very first day.
The new Research & Development barn at Hamra Farm, Sweden was inaugurated on December 13, 2004.
The new barn will accommodate the increased need for tests of new products and systems. Today some 45 engineers are involved in a number of projects here. The closeness to the new R&D barn is a great benefit and it will also function as a natural meeting place for ongoing projects. Another advantage is of course the possibility to work together with one of our most initiated customers, Hamra Farm. Cross functional projects will be easier to identify and picked up for further development.
In 2004 DeLaval China signed a US$3.6 million deal with Inner Mongolia Mengniu Milk Industry (Group) Co., Ltd to equip 200 Village Milking Centres. Two successful local follow-up activities of the big Hamra 3 D conference were held in Russia and in England. The second Russian Dairy Forum was held at Moscow’s historic Gasvinidor trading house with DeLaval as head sponsor, closely cooperating with the Russian Dairy Union. ’s chairman, Vladimir Labinov, inaugurated the conference. Then, as part of the Fair’s opening ceremonies, Joakim Rosengren gave a speech on the importance of building relationships in the dairy market, and about DeLaval’s commitment to improving milk yield and quality in Russia. The films from Hamra 3D were shown, and our international dairy experts and local specialists gave lectures. Three specialists from the Russian LSO also lectured and three key customers testified about how DeLaval has helped them improve production at their dairies.
At Bosworth Hall, close to Birmingham, local MD Paul Clancy gathered customers, dairy experts, scientists, journalists and both dairy industry and consumer representatives to a full day conference on British milk production, its current state and the needs of tomorrow. A lively and appreciated event that put animal welfare, milk quality, production conditions and much more in focus.
DeLaval Hamra Farm is frequently visited by leading politicians and other influentials from countries all over the world. During 2004 we had the honour of hosting;
• Mr Wojciech Olejniczak, Minister of Agriculture of Poland
• Mr Marat Akhmetov, Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture of Tatarstan
• Mr Vladimir Sobinsky, Minister of Agriculture of Karelia
• President of Nigeria President Olusegun Obasanjo
• Deputy President Mr. Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma of South Africa
An amused and relaxed Mr. Zuma tested what it would feel like to drive a Milkobike – the mobile milker developed especially for a successful project in Kerala, India. A concept that could fit any developing country.
